I actually prefer Ginastera’s Estancia Dances perfomed by the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra, as the boisterous piece is better suited to ensembles that are a little more “rough around the edges.” Nonetheless with Dudamel at the podium, the LA Phil was able to generate some excitement, albeit in a calculated manner, like a ballerina dancing salsa.

The Cantata Criolla is an epic piece with standout performances by the tenor Aquiles Machado and the percussion section’s maracas player.
